With Final Cut Pro, you can flex your creativity, diversify your project and designate clips into separate tracks. Even your titles and effects can have designated tracks. The key is understanding when to work with tracks and when to keep everything aligned.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Arrange, trim and make your clips easier to edit by adding tracks. Notice that when you start a new sequence, you are given only one track with which to work. To start a new track, drag your clip into the gray area above the existing track or control-click in that area, then select "Add Track."

  2. Step 2

Use the Source and Destination control to designate which tracks in which you want to place your source clips. When you work with tracks in Final Cut Pro, you can change the destination track assignments, so that you have the ability to vacillate between which source clip accompanies which audio.

  3. Step 3

Choose the destination control. This will automatically move the nearest source control to that track.

  4. Step 4

Option-click another destination control which will move the nearest source underneath the tracks to the newly designated track.

  5. Step 5

Move ahead with dragging source controls on top of each other, until you have completed what you need.

  6. Step 6

Disconnect audio and video in the timeline by clicking the source control and separate the button. Connecting and disconnecting is key when you work with tracks in Final Cut Pro to make your sequence as palpable to the viewer as possible.

  7. Step 7

Utilize the working with tracks feature, although it will take some getting used to. When you get the hang of it, you'll be able to mix your video and audio so seamlessly, it will leave your finished product miles beyond anyone else's.
