Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Wait until you are 50 years old or if you are already over 50, join now.

Keep in mind you do not need to be a United States resident, retired or of any religious or political association to benefit from a membership with the AARP.

  3. Step 3

Decide if you are more comfortable applying for membership over the internet, the mail or the phone.

  4. Step 4

Have all required information available for you and your spouse/partner. This will include names (as you want them to appear on your card), mailing address, daytime phone number, dates of birth, email addresses (if applicable) and a credit card number for payment.

  5. Step 5

Apply over the phone by calling (800) OUR-AARP.

  6. Step 6

Apply by mail after printing the application off of the AARP's membership information page and filling it out.

  7. Step 7

Apply online by visiting the AARP. Click on "Join" located on the right hand side of the window under the title "Membership." Complete the 3 phases "application," "billing" and "confirmation" to receive your AARP membership and benefits.
