Aliphatic resin is an adhesive that comes in the brand names of Duro Professional, Elmer's Carpenter's Glue and Franklin Titebond Glue. Aliphatic resin is known as yellow glue and is typically used for cabinetry and furniture making and repair. Here's how to apply an aliphatic resin.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Prepare your cabinets or furniture by cleaning them and removing any stain, varnish and dirt. Make sure the surfaces where you'll be applying the aliphatic resin are clean and dirt free.
Step2
Squeeze the aliphatic resin directly from the bottle onto both surfaces that you'll be bonding.
Step3
Clamp the area that you have bonded so that it will hold while the glue sets.
Step4
Allow the aliphatic resin to set and cure overnight. Aliphatic resin sets in about 30 minutes, but you should still let the aliphatic resin cure overnight to make sure it hardens.
Step5
Clean up any excess aliphatic resin using warm water. It's very easy to clean up the leftover glue from your furniture or cabinets.
Step6
Use the cabinets or furniture after allowing it to cure overnight.

Tips & Warnings

  • Aliphatic resin is water-resistant, rigid and strong. You should wait until the aliphatic resin completely hardens before you test it in water or rain.
  • Read the label on your aliphatic resin before using. Make sure you follow the specific directions on the bottle you purchased.
  • Always use gloves when using aliphatic resin.
  • When you apply the aliphatic resin from the bottle, squeeze the resin out onto the surface in a zigzag pattern. This will make sure you get the best bond possible with your resin.
