Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Discuss ideas with your child. Speak to your child about possible themes that you can use to decorate the playroom. If he really likes bugs or dinosaurs, you may choose to revolve the room design around these things.
Step2
Start with the walls. Choose a paint color that works well with your theme. Although the playroom is for a boy, you don't have to stick with blues. Greens, reds, yellows and browns can also work in the room.
Step3
Paint a mural or put up a wall border. Breathe more life into the room by further decorating the walls. For example, if your son wants a jungle playroom, use stencils to place jungle animals throughout the room.
Step4
Find a matching throw rug. Put down a rug in the room that matches your chosen theme. Keep it away from an area that art supplies or crafts will be used.
Step5
Choose wood furniture that is functional. A boy's playroom furniture does not need the frills that may appeal to girls. Pick basic pieces: table, dresser and toy chest in a matching wood color.
