Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
- Money
-
Step 1
Research workshop listings. There are several websites specializing in writing workshop searches, you'll find several links at below. These search engines do an excellent job of listing writing workshops by date and location.
-
Step 2
Decide how much you're willing to pay. The price of each workshop varies by location, size and duration, so make sure you check the tuition cost before signing up. Most writing workshops require payment prior to attendance.
-
Step 3
Determine what type of workshop is right for you. Writing workshops are held all over the country throughout the year, and are often part of conventions like DragonCon in Atlanta. There are also online writing workshops available if you are unable to attend a workshop in your area.
-
Step 4
Choose which classes you'll attend at the workshop. Many workshops offer a comprehensive array of class types, from romance to nonfiction to fantasy and science fiction. Some workshops will let you take only the classes you want, but most require that you attend all classes in your chosen field.
-
Step 5
Pick a date and location from the listings. If you decide to go with the online writing workshops, you'll still need to block off some time, some last for 6 weeks. Choosing a location close to home will let you save on hotel fees, but not everyone will have that option.
-
Step 6
Send in your registration and payment. Some writing workshops will allow you to do this over the phone, or online. Online writing workshops allow registration over the phone, through their website or through the mail.
