Don't let combination hair cause hair care trauma. The mixture of an oily scalp and dry hair ends may seem to be the worst of both worlds. It is easy to reduce oil, treat dryness and normalize your hair with the right hair care routine.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PH balanced shampoo
  • Light conditioner
  • Jojoba oil
  1. Step 1

Wash your hair in lukewarm water a few times a week. Using lukewarm water prevents further drying.

  2. Step 2

Shampoo with a gentle, pH balanced shampoo, a few times per week. This will wash away excess oil without over drying.

  3. Step 3

Apply a light conditioner to the ends of your combination hair. If you use conditioner on the scalp, it will become oilier.

  4. Step 4

Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water.

  5. Step 5

Smooth Jojoba oil onto the ends of your hair, avoiding the scalp. This will keep the ends of your hair moisturized and control the scalp's production of sebum (oil).

Tips & Warnings
  • Overexposure to the sun will dry your hair even more. Use a conditioner with a sunscreen to lock in the moisture.
  • Change your diet to reduce the amount of sebum your scalp produces. Drink more water, eat more fruit and vegetables and reduce your alcohol intake. This will help to balance your combination hair.
  • Cut down on blow drying and the use of curling irons, as these make your hair drier.
  • Don't over wash your hair. This will further aggravate the situation and make your scalp oilier and the ends drier.
