PRSA is the Public Relations Society of America organization and supports those who work in or teach public relations. This organization was chartered in 1947 to advance the public relations profession, set standards and provide professional development through multiple means on both the national and local levels. To join this organization, take a look at these simple steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Visit the official PRSA website and locate the membership area of the site. There are many smaller sites, such as those for particular chapters, which can be of benefit in making the decision to join the organization. Membership is encouraged to enhance your professional career, gain access to educational opportunities, network and more.
Step2
Determine if you fit the criteria for membership. Any person that devotes at least 50% of their professional job practicing public relations or teaching the curriculum in an accredited institution is eligible to join. The site also explains rules for those who are unemployed and their options for retaining membership.
Step3
Identify the type of membership you prefer. Members pay a certain fee per year and have access to all membership benefits. Associate members fall into one of four categories based on experience, association with the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and more. Group membership is also available, based on the number of participants from one organization.
Step4
Join online, by mail or by fax by providing your registration forms to the society's administrative offices. If you plan to join online, you need to sign up for an account before you complete the application.
Step5
Make your membership payment, including initiation fees, and receive confirmation of payment. Then enjoy your new membership and take full advantage of all of the opportunities that are available.
