A direct sales blog is a creative and effective way to promote your direct sales business. You can meet new customers, train new consultants, sponsor new recruits and share sales and discounts with the public. With some creativity and a little know how, you can use a blog to launch your direct sales business to the next level.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn more about your company's Internet policy. Many direct sales companies do not allow public Internet advertising. Before you launch your direct sales blog, consult your training guide or speak with a manager to ensure that you can promote your business online.

  2. Step 2

Pick a platform. There are many blogging platforms to choose from. Some of the most popular ones for new bloggers are Wordpress.org, Blogger.com and Windows Live Spaces (from Microsoft).

  3. Step 3

Write down your goals and objectives. Before your start writing your first posts, take some time to consider your audience. Think about the focus of your blog and whether or not you want to primarily sell products, recruit new consultants or train existing ones. Even though you'll probably want your blog to cover all three areas, you'll lose your readers if your blog seems unfocused.

  4. Step 4

Promote your blog. According to the blog search engine Technorati.com, there are over 70 million blogs on the web. If you want great visibility for your blog, you'll want to spend some time learning how to effectively promote it. Visit sites like Problogger.com or Copyblogger.com for great blog marketing tips and advice.

Tips & Warnings
  • Think about creative ways to share your direct sales business on your blog. For example, if you offer cooking products use your blog to share recipes. If you sell candles you can photograph eye-catching displays and post the photos on your blog.
  • Encourage your readers to share comments and ask questions on your blog. The more interactive you can make your blog the more you will be able to drive traffic to it.
  • You can save money on postage by using your blog as an online newsletter. Create an email database of your business contacts and customers and occasionally remind them to stop by your blog for current sales, specials and new product launches.
