Kiwi, while delicious, is also beneficial as an ingredient in skin cleansers. With high Vitamin C content, the kiwi acts as a gentle exfoliant and skin nourisher. And the fruit acids in kiwi are exactly the substances contained in high-priced cleansers for all types of skin. Kiwi juice and pulp help refine the skin texture, while also moisturizing. Read on to learn how to make a kiwi facial cleanser.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Kiwi fruit
  • Orange water
  • Yogurt
  • Apricot or almond oil
  • Honey
  • Orange essential oil
  • Ground almonds
  • Strawberries
  • Cucumber
  • Liquid facial soap
  • Glycerin
  • Rose water
  • Pineapple
  • Whipping cream
  • Spa facial clay
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Olive oil
  1. Step 1

Peel and slice one kiwi and puree it in a blender or food processor until it becomes more liquid than solid. Add 1 tbsp. orange water, 2 tbsp. plain yogurt and 1 tbsp. apricot or almond oil. Mix again. Add 1 tbsp. honey and two drops of orange essential oil. Blend well. Grind 1 tsp. almonds finely and add to the mixture, keeping a softly grainy texture. Apply with fingertips to cleansed face and neck skin, staying away from the eyes. Massage skin gently for a few minutes and rinse well with warm water.

  2. Step 2

Remove stems and tops from five to six large strawberries and cut into pieces. Peel and slice one kiwi and add to the strawberry pieces in a food processor. Mix slightly a few times before adding 1/2 peeled cucumber. Blend to create a thin paste, pouring off excess juice, if necessary. Add 1 tsp. liquid facial soap and blend again. Rub the mixture onto clean skin of face and neck, but not the eyes. Massage gently for a few minutes, concentrating on oily areas of forehead, nose and chin. Rinse well with warm water.

  3. Step 3

Combine two peeled and sliced kiwis with 1 tbsp. honey and 1 tsp. glycerin in a food processor. Mix until a smooth cream forms. Add 1 tsp. rose water and blend into a thin lotion. Splash face with warm water to open pores. Gently massage the kiwi facial cleanser onto the skin, keeping away from the eye area. Rub the mixture into blemish-prone areas. Use a warm washcloth to remove the cleanser and then rinse face well with cool water.

  4. Step 4

Cut up fresh pineapple into six half-inch pieces or about 1 1/2 oz. Peel and slice one kiwi and add to the pineapple in a food processor. Blend to make a puree. Add 1 tsp. whipping cream and blend again. Mix in 1 tbsp. spa facial clay and 1 tbsp. finely ground oatmeal and four drops lavender essential oil. Mix all ingredients well to form a creamy paste. Scoop out the kiwi facial cleanser with clean fingers and rub into the skin, staying clear of the eyes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. This recipe makes enough for three applications. Store the unused mixture in the refrigerator for not more than five days.

  5. Step 5

Mash a very ripe kiwi that has been peeled and sliced. Strain the juice from the pulp into a small bowl. Add 1 tbsp. liquid facial soap, 2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh mint leaves and 1 tsp. olive oil. Splash the face with warm water and apply the kiwi cleanser with fingertips. Don't apply to the eye area. Massage into the skin and rinse well with warm water.
