Float away on a cloud of lavender and rose scent to calm the nerves after a busy day. Or rev up for a night on the town with a lime and orange scented bubble bath. Add other essential oils to bathwater to help soothe and calm irritated skin or aching muscles. There are many ways to use essential oils to create a memorable bath experience. Here are some ideas.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Soak like the Romans did. A recipe like this is believed to have been used in baths in ancient Rome to help soften and moisturize the skin. Start with 1 cup of olive oil and mix in 1 cup liquid castile soap. Add 1/2 tsp. of your choice of essential oil and mix well. Pour into a jar or bottle and keep near the bathtub. Add about 2 tbsp. to each bath.
Step2
Sleep better with an essential oils bath before bed. In a small bowl, combine 1 tbsp. almond oil with 4 drops lavender oil, 3 drops marjoram oil and 2 drops benzoin oil. Each of these essential oils has relaxing and sedating properties. Mix well and add to 1 cup non-fat dry milk. Blend the essential oils in well. Add the entire mixture to bathwater and enjoy a relaxing soak before turning down the covers.
Step3
Create a romantic bath with this blend. Mix 2 tbsp. honey and 2 tbsp. cream. Add 4 drops ylang-ylang oil, 3 drops neroli oil and 2 drops bergamot oil. Decant into a container and shake well to incorporate all ingredients. Pour the mixture into a warm bath.
Step4
Use this mixture immediately in the bath to soften skin. Beat together 1 egg, 1/2 cup light olive oil, 1 tsp. glycerin and 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk. Mix well with a whisk or egg beater. Add 1 drop jasmine oil,
1 drop rose oil and 6 drops lavender oil. Whisk all ingredients together to form a smooth paste. Slowly add 2 cups distilled water and pour into the bath. Don't make the water too hot or it will cook the egg.
Step5
Use this bath blend to relax after a long day. Combine 1 quart distilled water with 4 oz. liquid castile soap and 4 oz. glycerin. Mix well and add
6 drops lavender oil and 3 drops patchouli oil. Pour into a bottle and shake to combine all ingredients. Pour into the bath.
