Caribbean stud poker is a game that uses a standard card deck to deal a five card poker hand. The player tries to beat the dealer's poker hand. The better the hand that you have, the higher your payout will be. Here are some strategies that you can use to increase your chances of winning at Caribbean poker.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place small bets. Caribbean poker is a game with a house edge, so you have a good chance of losing money. It is better to place numerous small bets than a few large wagers.

  2. Step 2

Raise on A-K-J-8-3 or better. This hand is likely to at least break even during a game of Caribbean stud poker.

  3. Step 3

Fold on hands that have a small chance of winning. If you don't have good cards, get out of play early in order to avoid losing more money.

  4. Step 4

Know the rules of the game. The dealer must qualify with an Ace and King or better before the player can get a proper payout on a winning hand. This rule should be in the back of your mind while you play the game.

  5. Step 5

Find out the maximum table payout. Many tables will impose a maximum amount that the player is allowed to win. Therefore, you should not bet any amount that will exceed this amount if your hand wins.

Tips & Warnings
  • The main difference between Caribbean poker and traditional poker is that you are only playing against the dealer, not other players.
  • To practice Caribbean stud poker before placing monetary bets, download a free version of the game onto your computer. The Wizard of Odds and Sling Dot both offer free Caribbean poker games.
