Things You'll Need:
- Rollerblades (inline skates)
- Helmet
- Protective pads for elbows and knees
- Extra wheels
- Tool for rotating and changing out worn wheels
-
Step 1
Take a rollerblading or inline skating class at a skating or extreme sports store or community recreation center. Learning the right techniques with the right equipment is extremely important if you want to do it correctly and safely.
-
Step 2
Rotate the wheels on a regular basis to avoid a serious injury. You will want large wheels at 76-80 mm-2.99 and 3.15 in diameter for more durability and stability. The larger the wheel is, the more stable it will perform at high speeds.
-
Step 3
Wear the proper safety equipment to avoid an injury, especially a serious injury, when rollerblading. The equipment consists of a helmet that covers the facial area and a strap around the chin, knee and elbow pads, and power straps that wrap around the feet, adding support around the ankles as well.
-
Step 4
Watch other skaters around you. Skaters who are more experienced may not watch out for you and could cause you to have an accident if you aren't paying attention. You need to skate defensively just like you would drive defensively.
