Show up at the theater an hour early and see if anyone is trying to sell their tickets, due to an emergency that prevents them from attending.

Take advantage of bad weather. Many theatergoers stay home in inclement weather. Buy a standing-room-only ticket and scope out empty seats just before curtain time. Settle into one of the vacancies.

Go to the theater the day of the show and ask for "limited view seating." These seats are usually $15 to $20 and are located very close to the stage. Missing a few minor details is worth being so close to the action.

Check into youth subscriptions. Theaters boost attendance by offering special rates to a younger audience. See if you qualify.
