Treating Dry/Damaged Hair
-
1
Use vinegar as a conditioner. Massage it into your scalp or soak your hair in vinegar and water before you shampoo. This will eliminate dandruff as well as restore dry hair.
-
2
Rub oil into your scalp. Then cover your hair with a hat, leave it on overnight and shampoo and rinse the oil out next morning. Olive oil and coconut oil work the best.
-
-
3
Lather your hair with an egg whipped into tepid water. Make sure the water is not too hot. Rinse the egg out with tepid water afterward.
-
4
Combine all three to deep-treat damaged hair. Mix three eggs, two tablespoons olive or safflower oil, and one teaspoon vinegar. Apply it to your hair, cover with a plastic cap for 30 minutes and then shampoo it out.
-
5
Run your hair through cold water. This will lock in the moisture.
-
6
Wash your hair in warm or cool water, not hot. Use a shampoo rich in Vitamin E. Use a leave-in conditioner.
Preventing Dry/Damaged Hair
-
7
Avoid shampooing too often. Doing so more than once a day will dry out the hair and scalp. This is especially true in cold weather.
-
8
Reduce the use of the hairdryer. The hot air will dry and damage your hair. If you do use a dryer, use the cool setting.
-
9
Eat seeds and nuts. They contain fatty acids that will restore sheen to your hair.

Hey. I really need some help. I have natural wavy thick brown hair with lots of frizz, dryness and breakage. I have my roots colored once every two months. I have been growing it long and only have it trimed every 3-4 mos. I usually let it dry natural and use flat iron on occassion. I've been wearing it in a clip or bun because of frizz. I just cannot do anything with it. Please help! Thanks! Terri -
