How to Join Yarn and Change Colors in Knitting
There will come a time when you reach the end of your skein of yarn, or you might want to knit something that is multi-colored. At that point, you'll need to join a new skein into your knitting. It's best to try to join your yarn at the beginning of a row.

Tips & Warnings
When you're running low on yarn, measure to make sure you'll have enough. If you don't think you'll have enough to finish the row, just stop there, and join a new ball of yarn with a new row.
To measure, yarn should reach four times across the width of your piece.
