Imagine the thrill of planing along the water while hanging on to a ski rope and gracefully gliding up into a barefooting position. With these simple steps, you'll be able to use just your body and a ski rope and barefoot away!

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Wetsuit
  • Ski rope

Step1
Get into the water holding the ski rope handle in both hands.
Step2
Signal to the driver to tighten up the rope.
Step3
Lay back in the water in a floating position and wrap your legs around the ski rope. Hold the ski rope handle above your stomach near your hips.
Step4
Yell "Hit it," to the driver, and take a deep breath. Lean your head back into the water and arch your back.
Step5
Move into a sitting position as soon as you plane above the water.
Step6
When the boat reaches 20 to 25 mph, place your heels gently but firmly in the water.
Step7
When the boat reaches your barefoot speed (33 to 39 mph), add pressure to your heels and you will rise into a barefoot position.

Tips & Warnings

  • Barefoot wetsuits have extra padding in the rear and can be tightened around the thighs.
  • When the boat begins to move, make sure your feet are above the water or you will not be able to plane.
