How to Tour Idyllwild Arts Academy

The Idyllwild Arts Academy is a high school focused on education in the arts. Located in Idyllwild, California, it offers study in visual arts, creative writing, film, dance, music and theater. Campus tours are part of the admission process for prospective students and their parents.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Begin in the admissions office. The Idyllwild Arts Academy offers campus tours Monday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. If you are interested in music, film or theater, schedule by calling (951) 659-2171, extension 2344. For all other areas of disciplines, call (951) 659-2171, extension 2345.

  2. Step 2

    Meet your host. Tours are conducted by current students or one of the Deans for the Department of Admissions. Your visit to the campus will be supervised by your host. Depending on time, you may be able to attend a class or eat lunch in the dining hall.

  3. Step 3

    Plan an interview with a department chair. A typical tour to the Idyllwild Arts Academy will include an interview with the department chair for the field that interests you. The interview may include a time for you to audition for your specific field or for the chair to reveiw of your portfolio.

  4. Step 4

    Attend a demonstration at Parks Exhibition Center. The Idyllwild Arts Academy hosts several community events throughout the year. Guest artists to the academy often present lectures, attend receptions or give demonstrations.

  5. Step 5

    Walk through Eymann Sculpture Garden Gallery, located on the grounds that surround the Parks Exhibition Center. It was established to provide a beautiful landscape for the community. One sculpture per year is added to the garden and is chosen by the Visual Art Community.
