1. Put together your hair portfolio. If you are serious about making a living as a hair model then you will need a professional looking modeling portfolio. Include photos of you at past hair shows, as well as head shots that illustrate how great you look with various types of hair styles.
2. Prepare your hair for casting calls. If you want a job as a model in a hair show then your hair needs to be healthy and shiny. To accomplish this you will need to properly condition, cleanse and groom your hair every day. Always have your hair ready for a last minute audition.
3. Search for casting calls for hair shows. "Craigslist" is a great resource for hair show auditions. You will find listings on this site under "talent gigs." You can also search for auditions in your local newspaper. You can sometimes get an audition by cold calling local salons to see if they will be needing a hair model for a commercial or a hair show. Finally, visit hair care product websites to find casting calls and hair modeling programs.
4. Show up for an audition. After you have found an audition your next step is to go to it. Make sure that you show up early. The competition for modeling jobs is fierce. Arrive early with your portfolio and healthy hair.
5. Go through orientation. The head hunter for the hair show will generally do a quick sweep through those who showed up for the audition and get rid of people that won't work for the particular looks the show will be dealing with.
