How to Tour Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University is located in College Station, Texas. The university's name changed to Texas A&M when the words Agricultural and Mechanical were shortened to their first letters. Students come first at Texas A&M, which has one of the best graduation rates in the state. Read on to learn more.

Step1
Begin at The Appelt Aggieland Visitor Center located in Rudder Tower, which welcomes visitors to Aggieland, as Texas A&M is called. Tours leave from the Visitors Center every hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The three tours available are the Academic Facilities Tour, the History and Traditions Tour and the Campus Overview Tour. You need to call (979) 845-5851 to schedule your tour.
Step2
Discover the dorms. Texas A&M has 30 residence halls that offer mostly suite-style living. Briggs, Davis-Gary, Haas, Kiest, Legett, Rudder, Spence and Underwood Halls are female-only residence halls. Male-only halls are Appelt, Crocker, McInnis, Moore and Walton Halls. The remaining residence halls are coed by room, suite or floor.
Step3
Say howdy to the students in The Flagroom, known as "the living room." Another great place to meet people is The Memorial Student Center. It's home to a hotel, three art galleries, three dining areas, an arcade, a bowling alley and a pool hall.
Step4
Admire the highlights and landmarks. You should plan on visiting the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the J. Wayne Stark University Center. You must see the Bonfire Memorial, which is home to the bonfire that is lit every year before the big football game between the Aggies and their rivals, Texas University.
Step5
Russel up some chow. The Department of Dining Services offers over 30 locations for dining. The facilities range from franchise restaurants to delis to cafeterias. The menus include international cuisine to barbeque.
Step6
Get involved with a recreational activity. Texas A&M is home to the Aggies and belongs to the Big 12 Conference. In addition to intercollegiate sports, the university's Student Recreation Center hosts programs for aquatics, intramural sports, club sports, group recxercise, outdoor adventures and golf. The university also has several student organizations and community involvement opportunities.
