Do an Indy Grab on a Snowboard
-
1
Approach a jump with enough speed to get some air for at least 2 seconds.
-
2
Flatten the board for the jump and lean back a little to apply pressure to the back of the snowboard.
-
-
3
Spring off the jump by pushing down on the tail of the board and popping it off the ground near the end of the jump or large bump.
-
4
Pull your knees up toward your chest as high as possible to lift your board further off the ground.
-
5
Reach down and grab the snowboard between the bindings on the toe side of the board with the trailing hand. Your four fingers should go under the board and your thumb should be on top of the board. If your right foot is forward, grab the board with your left hand and vice versa.
-
6
Put your free hand up into the air for style.
-
7
Let go of the snowboard and get into a position to land by lowering your knees (don't straighten your legs all the way).
-
8
Land the jump and snowboard over to the next jump to do it again.
-
9
Practice combining the Indy grab with other tricks you do. Do the grab with a 180 twist or Backside 180 for more style.

Tips & Warnings
In the beginning, you will need to do your Indy grab quickly depending on how much air you get. The more air you can get on a jump, the longer you can hold the board.
You need to be able to Ollie well to increase the opportunities to use the Indy grab.
Make sure you let go of the board before landing, even if you can grab the board for a split second at first. Landing on your fingers could cause serious cuts and wipe outs.
Wear all of your pads and guards to protect yourself while learning the Indy grab.
