Things You'll Need:
- Board
-
Step 1
Find a small jump that you can get about 2 feet of air off of. Many people can do standing air to fakies, but for first attempts, you'll want to focus more on the rotation part. This way you won't have to worry about jumping too much.
-
Step 2
Approach the jump at a moderate speed. Bend your knees like you're preparing for an ollie. You also need to rotate your shoulders to face the tail of the board.
-
Step 3
Lean back and jump a little when you pass over the crest of the jump. Once you leave the ground, you want to rotate your shoulders towards the nose of the board.
-
Step 4
Pay attention to how hard you rotate your shoulders. Too much can make you over rotate and too little can make your landing very rough.
-
Step 5
Look over your shoulder towards the new front end of the board once you've rotated 180 degrees. If you also rotate your shoulders to face the front of the board, it can help stop you from over-spinning.
-
Step 6
Bend your knees as you land to absorb the shock form the impact. You'll then be riding fakie. Stop or do a quick nose roll to get back to riding regular if you aren't comfortable riding fakie.
