Since his death in 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. has been the subject of many books including several notable biographies, collections of his speeches and other materials, and dozens of books for young people of all ages.

    Find Books About Martin Luther King, Jr.

  1. Step 1

    Ask your local public or school librarian for a list of recommended reading about Martin Luther King, Jr. Most libraries provide such reading lists in conjunction with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month.

  2. Step 2

    Keep up with the new books about Dr. King that appear nearly every year by checking new listings and asking your library or bookstore to alert you to them. You can often do this by creating an online alert.

  3. Step 3

    Check the Books & Audiovisual Resources page at the King Center Bookstore website for listings of books by and about Dr. King (see Resources below). You may purchase most of these books directly from the King Center at full price or print out a reference list for future use.

  4. Step 4

    Find a list of books in Martin Luther King, Jr.'s own words by entering his name under "Author" on Amazon's "Advanced Search" website (see Resources below). His most popular books are his autobiography, "Why We Can't Wait" and "A Call to Conscience."
