You may need to hire a political comedian for a number of reasons. Your friends may want a political comedian for a birthday party or your boss may need a political satirist for an upcoming corporate event. The search for a political comedian that fits your particular needs is simple when you know where to find them.

Hire a Political Comedian

Step1
Define your budget for a political comedian, based on the size of your event. You should determine the current rate for a good comedian in your region and try to find an act that combines reasonable price with an appropriate routine.
Step2
Speak with potential political comedians about the type of comedic material you need for your function. Comedians can provide a sample list of jokes or themes that they cover and you can provide the parameters needed for your target audience.
Step3
Provide details about the venue, the crowd demographics and preceding acts at the event with the hired comedian. This type of information helps the comedian determine the material they can fit into their slot and attire that is appropriate for the event.
Step4
Locate political comedians or sketch comedy groups that focus on politics at colleges within your community. Your advertisements in residence halls and academic buildings will bring in unique acts that are hungry for their first big break.
Step5
Watch political comedians in action at a local stand-up club if you need to hire multiple acts in the near future. Repeat visits will let you determine if a political comedian has a versatile portfolio of jokes and the type of reaction that crowds have to their jokes.
Step6
Call talent agencies in your metropolitan area or region that work with political comedians to set up gigs. These agencies can provide you background on the comedian and a recommendation about comedians that fit your specific needs.
Step7
Reach out to television studios and networks for contact information on political comedians. Political humor shows and cable news networks often feature guest comedians that work on their material to a larger audience. This option is best if you have a large budget to work with and desire a high-profile comedian for your event.

Tips & Warnings

  • Request video clips and sample jokes from a political comedian before you make a hiring decision. People who hire a comedian based on their reputation without witnessing his routine are often disappointed by the end result. Most comedians are willing to send you a packet as a prerequisite to landing a gig.

so I guess the debates the other night with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the white guy is all the talk of the town now. Miss Clinton is saying that Obama is running scared and Mr. Clinton is saying that he just might be a better dancer than Obama and Obama is saying "Too Many Clintons, to little time! And the white guy (Edwards) is saying, what about throwing a bone to this dog.
