How to Be Eligible for Enlistment Bonuses
Enlistment bonuses play a major role in getting and retaining military personnel. Many areas of military service offer enlistment bonuses, especially to recruits willing to work in specific areas of need. Likewise, if soldiers desire to re-enlist, and if they are willing to train for Military Occupation Specialties that are in great need of personnel, there are bonus incentives available.

Be Eligible for Enlistment Bonuses
-
1
Consider the length of your current contract. An enlistment bonus for a new recruit is based on the years under contract for military service and the type of MOS assignment. A re-enlistment bonus takes into consideration the length of military service already performed, the rank and the number of years under the renewed contract.

2
Realize that enlistment bonuses can range from only a few dollars to tens of thousands of dollars for the length of the enlistment contract. Your Army recruiter will have the very latest figures for your area of expertise and available openings for which you are eligible.

Get all the facts about the Marine Corps enlistment bonus program from your local Marine Corps Recruiter. In addition to the MOS bonus that is like other branches of the military, the Marines offer shipping bonuses if you are eligible. This is a special bonus offered only at certain times of the year, and the bonus is available without term requirements.

Check with your Navy Recruiter about specific qualifications for enlistment bonuses. The Navy Reserves offer a variety of enlistment bonuses. The non-prior basic bonus is for new recruits who sign up for 6 years. Prior service enlistment bonuses are for sailors who have completed a term of service and reenlist for either 3 or 6 years. The third type of bonus is the RESCORE-R (Recruiting Selective Conversion Reenlistment).

Expect to be compensated in ways other than cash. In addition to the many cash incentives available as enlistment bonuses, the military offers benefits such as life and health insurance, commissaries, free medical, location assistance and much more.
