Musicians have participated in military service since the Revolutionary War. In 1775, the U.S. Army was created and incorporated the use of music to build the soldiers' morales. The 34 bands of the Army are divided into either Special Army Bands or Traditional Army Bands. The Special Army Bands are a collection of the very best. This group performs at special occasions such as at White House events. The Traditional Army Bands consist of small ensembles, as well as full ceremonial bands.
