How to register to vote from outside the U.S.

Step1
Register and request your ballot early: Go to the Overseas Vote Foundation (OVF) website (see Resources below). Voter registration, ballot request and ballot return deadlines are all listed in the OVF state-specific Directory.
Step2
Click "Register to Vote" at the OVF web site to complete and generate your registration /ballot request form. After designating the state where you last resided, the OVF application automatically loads required questions for your specific state, prompts you through the answering process with drop-down lists and generates a completed PDFapplication that can be printed, signed and mailed. It also generates instructions for voter registration in your home jurisdiction, along with the address for mailing the application.
Step3
Print, sign and mail your form to your local election official's address provided for you by OVF.
Step4
If you would like to check with your election office to inquire if your form was received, look up your election official in the OVF Election Official Directory. Or if you have further questions, look in the OVF Voter Help Desk.
