Petition the Government for Alternative Fuel Options
Step1
Research alternative fuel options. Learn the pros and cons of each and the economic implications of implementing these options. You will be able to present a more compelling case to the government if you are well informed.
Step2
Join an environmental organization that is fighting for alternative fuel options to be made available. Become active in this group and participate in all of their events. The larger the organization, the more the government will pay attention to its activities.
Step3
Write to your Congressional representatives and tell them your opinions on the issue of alternative fuels. Make your letters as full of well-researched facts and figures as you can.
Step4
Arrange for in-person visits with your Congressional representatives. Call their offices and speak to staff assistants to arrange your meetings.
Step5
Participate in public events designed to draw attention to the need for alternative fuels. Events such as protests, demonstrations, environmental fairs and tabling venues are all effective means of drawing government attention to the issue of alternative fuels.
Step6
Start an actual petition. Set up a table in a public place and ask registered voters to sign your petition regarding alternative fuel sources. When you have a sufficient number of signatures, send the petition in to the Congressional representative of your choice.
