American citizens who feel strongly about the war in Iraq and the removal of our troops as soon as possible should consider urging their representatives and senators to join the Out-of-Iraq Caucus. This Caucus serves as a support system of U.S. Representatives and Senators to help spread the agenda of removing our soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan as quickly as possible. Democratic Party representatives typically join.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

    Join the Out-of-Iraq Caucus

  1. Step 1

Find out whether your district representative or senator is a member. Membership is only extended to members of the House of Representatives and members of the Senate.

  2. Step 2

Write to your district representatives endorsing them to join the Out-of-Iraq Caucus on behalf of their represented community. All district representatives have offices that can receive written letters, emails and phone calls from district voters expressing requests, concerns or providing information.

  3. Step 3

Start a petition from community members who are in support of an endorsement to your representative to join the Out-of-Iraq Caucus. Petitions tell political figures that there are perhaps a majority of citizens that agree on a specific action to take concerning a particular issue or agenda. Petitions are a highly successful type of endorsement request.

  4. Step 4

Urge your representative to actively contribute her support of the Out-of-Iraq Caucus by contributing financially and by volunteering her time to meet with other elected officials to discuss specific issue and to organize caucus supported events that inform the public of news about the war in Iraq.

  5. Step 5

Support your representative when he joins the caucus by volunteering your time in his office to help him reach his full potential by reaching as many residents as he can with important Iraq war news. Some representatives regularly schedule times to hear the needs and concerns that fallen soldiers' families have about America's involvement in the Iraq war.

Tips & Warnings
  • Determine your level of commitment when embarking on a campaign to join the Out-of-Iraq Caucus.
  • Contact your state government office to get information concerning your local district representatives.
  • Avoid creating a political party division if possible. The Caucus is best served by focusing on its main agenda which is to get American troops back to the United States.
