Things You'll Need:
- Cardboard or heavy paper stock
- Ribbon
- Glue stick
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Markers or crayons
- Colored paper
-
Step 1
Draw the shape you want your Hanukkah gift tags to be on a piece of cardboard of heavy paper stock. Use a pencil so you can revise if needed. A Star of David, a dreidel and a menorah are all items associated with Hanukkah but you can choose plain geometric shapes such as a rectangle, triangle or circle as well.
-
Step 2
Cut the gift tag shape out of the cardboard with a pair of scissors. This is your template for your gift tags.
-
Step 3
Choose a piece of colored paper for your gift tags. This can be construction paper, fancier scrapbooking paper, wrapping paper or any other material you think will look nice.
-
Step 4
Turn the piece of paper upside down to the non-decorated side if the color or pattern is only on one side.
-
Step 5
Trace your template shape onto your colored paper with a pencil. Write lightly so that the pencil does not mark the patterned side of the paper. Repeat as needed if you are able to fit more than one tag onto the paper.
-
Step 6
Use scissors to cut the gift tags out of the decorated paper.
-
Step 7
Flip the tag over to the colored side and neaten the edges if needed. Sometimes you may need to trim slivers of paper with the scissors.
-
Step 8
Decorate your Hanukkah gift tags with markers or crayons if desired. If your gift tags look like dreidels, you can put a Hebrew letter on it. The letters on a dreidel are "nun","gimmel", "hay" and "shin."
-
Step 9
Make a hole at the top or side of your gift tags with a hole punch.
-
Step 10
Cut a 2 to 4-inch length of thin ribbon to make a loop. Insert it into the hole you have made, and tie.
-
Step 11
Tie your gift tag onto the handle of a gift bag or use a glue stick to attach it to a present.
