Things You'll Need:

Make Hanukkah Gifts For Your Family

  1. Step 1

Compile a list of the people for whom you will make a gift. As you write down names, jot down notes about what type of gift you think each person might like, i.e. something edible, something to wear or a craft to display in their home.

  2. Step 2

Bake treats for a personal and yummy Hanukkah gift. There are countless varieties of cookies, cakes, breads and other goodies that you can make. Perhaps a relative adores chocolate or complimented you on the homemade bread you regularly make. Use these bits of information to create something they will enjoy.

  3. Step 3

Create a scrapbook or collage as a unique gift. Use old family photos to make a family tree or put recent pictures of your children into a photo album. Craft stores have many different albums, books about scrapbooking and embellishments from which to choose.

  4. Step 4

Knit something as a Hanukkah gift. It is cold during Hanukkah in most of the United States. Take advantage of the timing and make mittens, a scarf, warm socks or a sweater for a friend or family member. Perhaps someone you know is expecting a baby for whom you can knit a blanket.

  5. Step 5

Get out your sewing machine and sew some new clothes for your child or a niece or nephew. Follow patterns of trendy items for a preteen who wants to wear the latest fashions.

  6. Step 6

Put together a gift basket as a Hanukkah gift. Go with a particular theme, such as a movie basket, a coffee basket or a pet-themed basket.

  7. Step 7

Wrap your gift--no matter what it is--nicely. Use handmade wrapping paper and gift tags, or a pretty gift bag. Your family will appreciate the time you have spent creating something just for them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Teaching your kids to make Hanukkah gifts can be fun for them, especially if you want to stick to a budget. Older children can do crafts. Have your younger kids draw a picture as their contribution to the homemade gift exchange.
