1
Let the kids help decorate for Hanukkah by encouraging them to make handmade dreidels--a spinning top containing a Hebrew letter on each of its four sides to convey, "A Miracle Happened Here!" Dreidels not only provide an entertaining game for children, but they also make a great decoration for a mantle, right next to the menorah. To download a pattern to make a dreidel out of cardboard, go to the Holiday website (see Resources below).

2
Decorate the outside of your home for Hanukkah with festive lights surrounding the front door, shrubs, walkways and, perhaps, the roof line of your house. Traditional lights to decorate with for Hanukkah are white and blue.

Make a scarf for your fireplace mantel to showcase your menorah and dreidels by sewing several linen napkins of solid blue and white colors together (or purchase suitable fabric instead). Alternate the colors and position each napkin to form an upside down V from which you can hang a tassel and some gelt (chocolate coins).

4
Decorate your holiday table for a Hanukkah feast by making a table runner. Just gather together scraps of material of silver, blue and white (or purchase new material) and fashion your own design by sketching it out on a piece of paper first. Adding a Star of David at the center of the runner creates a special touch.

5
Display the Hanukkah cards you've received in the mail or from work or school for everyone to enjoy by hanging them on a string. This is a great way to decorate a neglected window or doorway for Hanukkah.

6
Buy coordinating napkins, plates and other essentials with a Hanukkah theme, especially if you're planning to have a party during the holiday at home, school or office. You can find a variety of Hanukkah party decorations online from Party Supplies Hut (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
Hanukkah is referred to as the Festival of Lights because it celebrates the miraculous burning of the eternal flame of the Temple of Jerusalem for eight straight days when there was only enough oil to last for a single day. For this reason, Hanukkah is celebrated for eight consecutive days.
