The Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton is one of Canada's best-known museums. It sits in a park immediately west of downtown and offers exhibits and activities for people of all ages and interests. The museum is currently going through a multi-million dollar renewal project, but its numerous exhibits are still open to the public. Expect to find some of the best cultural and natural history collections in Canada at the Edmonton museum thanks to its curatorial programs.

Arrive at the Royal Alberta Museum

Step1
Take the bus or drive to the museum. There are bus stops near the entrance on 102nd Avenue for bus routes 1 and 120. There is also free public parking.
Step2
Visit the museum between 9 a.m.and 5 p.m. It is open daily.
Step3
Pay the admission fee. The Royal Alberta Museum charges a fee to all visitors, young and old. Discounts are available for students, seniors, children and groups. Children younger than 6 enter free.

Tips & Warnings

  • Visit the museum for half price between 9 and 11a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Enjoy a lunch or snack at the Museum Cafe between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Know that the Government House, used by the Alberta Government Caucus, is also located on the premises of the museum.
  • The museum is closed December 24 and 25.
