Things You'll Need:
- Pool or pond
- Fencing
-
Step 1
Secure your leopard in her house by providing a double wall fencing system. This requires fencing in the initial housing for your leopard, and then placing a second fence around the perimeter, in case the first one is compromised. Because leopards like to climb, the roof should be secured so your leopard cannot escape through the ceiling.
-
Step 2
Offer several forms of shelter from the elements and for napping for your pet leopard, such as open-faced sheds and thick trees. Depending on where you live, leopards will need a place to go when it rains or snows. Your leopard will also appreciate a quiet place away from noise to nap.
-
Step 3
Divide housing into sections if you have more than one leopard, since they like to play with other leopards and explore together. Allow each leopard to be alone when warranted and allow ways for them to be together. You can do this by sectioning off the housing and installing sliding doors.
-
Step 4
Change the toys and stimulation you provide for your leopard each week. Toys do not need to be store-bought pet toys. Leopards are easily amused with hollow logs, rocks, dead trees and birdbaths.
-
Step 5
Place ramps and perches for your pet leopard within its habitat, giving it the ability to climb and explore. Every few days, change the ramps and perches, giving your leopard a different view of its surroundings.
-
Step 6
Provide a pond or pool for your pet leopard to swim and bathe in. When building the housing, install a drain in the pond or pool allowing you to change the water every 2 or 3 days. Try putting some small fish in the pool to entertain your leopard.
