For people who wanna be a pro wrestler or just wanna show off when wrestling friends in the backyard, the most important thing in professional wrestling is your gimmick. A bad gimmick will only get you a sure spot as a "jobber".

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Imagination, Creativity, and/or Originality. Because you want to create the best gimmick you can without overdoing it.
  1. Step 1

Decide on if you want to be on heel (bad guy) or face (good guy). This would be your starter, as it flows into how you act and your reputation as a wrestler.

  2. Step 2

Learn how to act. If you do this, you can make your character much more believable and you'll be known for your attitude and actions. Put strength into your words, use hand motions while you talk, and use body language - you can become your gimmick.

  3. Step 3

Learn how to wrestle. Learning how to perform a move safely without hurting your opponent is essential; it will also be helpful and make your matches flow. Do not attempt to try a move if you don't have the slightest idea how to maneuver it. Several moves can lead to severe injuries.

  4. Step 4

Get a signature move. Just about anything can become a finisher if made to look believable. Remember that a simple move such as the "DDT" and/or "Clothesline" can be used as finisher. Finishers don't have to be fancy, but if you want to be unique, it's nice to make up your own style.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch wrestling, watch how the pros do it, and get exposed as much as you can through TV, internet or event local events.
  • Keep in mind that if you're original, you can go far as long as it isn't overdone.
  • Some promotions normally give you a gimmick anyway; so try your best to play it.
  • You get hurt at times; so be ready and prepare if it becomes serious.
  • Always be extremely careful when wrestling; injuries and even death could result if the proper precautions are not taken in this form of entertainment. No matter how "fake" it is, remember that when you wrestle, you can and probably will get hurt.
