Steps to follow if the contact lens is stuck to the eye. The following steps apply to soft contact lenses only.

Instructions

Step 1

Place a few drops of multipurpose solution, saline solution, or rewetting drops into your eye. Multipurpose solutions such as Alcon's Optifree Express/Replenish, Bausch & Lomb's Renu Multiplus/Sensitive Eyes. You may also use AMO's Lens Plus saline, Ciba Vision's Softwear Saline.
Step 2

Blink a lot for 10-15 seconds.
Step 3

Place the pad of your fingertip on the edge of the contact lens and slide it onto the white of the eye. Be careful not to scratch your eye with your fingernail.
Step 4

If the contact lens doesn't slide onto the white of the eye, repeat steps 1 & 2 and try again.
Step 5

Once you slide the contact lens on to the white of the eye, pinch it to grab it out of the eye. Again, be careful not to scratch your eye with your fingernail.

Tips & Warnings

If you are unsuccessful after 3-4 attempts, then call your eye doctor as soon as possible. Your eyes will get too red and irritated if you make too many attempts without success. Stop trying to take out the contact lens. DO NOT PANIC, YOUR EYE WILL BE OKAY. MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT "PEEL" THE CONTACT LENS OFF OF YOUR EYE. You may have to keep the contact lens in your eye overnight and go into your eye doctor's office following morning.
Do no use Ciba Vision's Clear Care multipurpose solution for the above steps because the Clear Care solution straight from the bottle will burn and hurt.
