This article discusses how introducing educational songs into the teaching curriculm is beneficial to both the teacher and student.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • book
  • lesson plans
  • activities

Step1
Every year, as a Teacher I look for innovative ways to get students more interested and involved in the core subjects such as Math, Science, Language Arts, and the Social Sciences. I change my lesson plans around to fit the needs of the students. Every students needs are different. Some students learn at a quicker rate than others and some need extra attention with certain subjects but excel in others. Some students can’t sit still for more than 10 minutes while others can sit in the same chair for an hour. Some students are interested in Math and others are interested in English. The hardest part of my job as an educator is finding a way to bring all these children’s different interests, needs, and attention spans together so that they all learn at the same rate.
Step2
I have found that after 3 years of teaching core subjects such as Math and English introducing educational songs into my lesson plans has been the most successful way to reach all my students at the same rate. Children like music and they like to sing. A song that is repeated and recited is easier to remember for every child. I have found that my lesson plans that introduce educational songs enable every child to learn at the same pace. No one is ever left behind in my class. We sing the song over and over until every student gets it right.
Step3
I recently ran across a website Songs That Teach. I was extremely impressed when I read about About Mr. R who is an educator that has developed CD’s and DVD’s for his students. I bought both the CD and DVD and implemented both into my latest lesson plan. I was extremely impressed that the student learning standards were available for parents, teachers and students alike on the website.

This is another perfect of example of how educational songs can be used to educate all children in core subjects.

on 7/26/2007 Ok. Ashley loves these songs; I think she's actually learning something, unlike watching TV for 30 mins and not remembering what the shows about. I purchased the online download and it had all these features:

School starts soon and HOPEFULLY she gets an A in her classes!
