If you are an avid fisherman/woman or if you are just trying your hand at fishing, trout fishing in Ireland is sure to be a beautiful get away.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Your fishing expedition in Ireland may begin by choosing the type of boat you would like to charter, where you would like to stay and the type of fish you would like to catch. Included in the resources section is a link to charter boat rentals.

  2. Step 2

You can fish for trout as well as pike and other fish. One of the most talked about places is Boyne Valley. Boyne Valley is located on the East Coast of Ireland and runs along the River Boyne. It's said to be one of Europe's "best kept secrets."

  3. Step 3

There are companies which will include accommodation as part of your getaway fishing package. (Including service charges as well.) Please check the links in the resources section. Peak fishing season falls between March and September, so if you would like to go on your own, please contact local tour operators for your licensing requirements.

  4. Step 4

Limestone Rivers, Wetfly Streams and Upland streams are generally great places for Brown Trout fishing. If you fancy angling for some sea trout, head for the coast. Overall, make a holiday of it and hire a tour guide. With more in-depth knowledge of the various lakes and rivers and coastlines, he/she can really enhance your fishing holiday and make it a very memorable experience!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you prefer to go on your own, chartering a boat is a good idea. Please see the links in the resources section to help you with that.
