    Know the game...

  1. Step 1

In 2007, 16 teams entered the Cricket World Cup, the largest number of teams ever in this tournament. Teams are usually split in to two groups of eight or four groups of four. They are pitted against each other in a group A versus group B type of competition. The top four teams from each group will advance to the next round and will play in the semi-finals in the "super eights."

  2. Step 2

The teams involved in the Super Eights play a round-robin tournament. And the teams will carry forward any point balances they earned in the opening rounds of the Cricket World Cup. The top two teams will then square off against each other in the final round.

  3. Step 3

Pick your team and follow along as your team tries to score as many runs as possible. This is done by one team (the bowler's team) trying to get as many batsmen of the other team out as possible. Batsmen also attempt to score runs which is done by hitting the cricket ball so that it crosses a marked boundary before touching the ground.

  4. Step 4

So if your team is leading in runs or wickets, you will know they are off to a great start. Check the tips section to find information on how best to get internet resources for following the Cricket World Cup.
