Step 1
Meet the minimum requirements to start the process of becoming an Alaska State Trooper. These requirements include being a U.S. citizen, having a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, being 21 years or older and having no convictions as described on the Alaska state employment and recruiting website. (See resources below.)

Step 2
Begin the application procedure by going to the website listed in the Resources section. You may call 907-465-5492 if you have questions regarding the application process to become an Alaska State Trooper.

Step 3
Proceed to the evaluation portion of the selection process. You will be fingerprinted, have a background and personal information check and undergo a psychological evaluation.

Step 4
Determine at this point whether becoming an Alaska State Trooper is what you still wish to do and then you can start the physical sections of the process. You will have a medical exam and then test for the minimum physical requirements in push ups, sit ups and running.

Step 5
Move on to the actual hands-on training next at the official Trooper academy. Once you have successfully passed requirements of the academy, you may call yourself Trooper.
