How to Plan a Trip to Salmon Fishing in the Puget Sound, Washington

Whether a newbie or a seasoned fisherman, there is a salmon fishing excursion available on Seattle's Puget Sound just for you. The Puget Sound is know for it's calm waters and scenic views of the Seattle skyline. Pull off a great day of fishing by being prepared.

  • Layered clothing
  • Jacket
  • Small cooler
  • Snacks
  • Drinks
  • Large cooler
  • Ice
  • Fishing license
  1. Step 1

    Make reservations with a Fishing Excursion company. Obtain reservations in advance, especially for fishing in the busy summer season. Try Onco Sportfishing and Guide Service. Call (206) 463-9230 or (877) 483-0047.

  2. Step 2

    Price shop before deciding on an excursion company. Know exactly what each excursion includes.

  3. Step 3

    Get a fishing license. Find out from the excursion company if you will need to get the license in advance or if it will be included in your trip fee.

  4. Step 4

    Pack a small cooler with drinks and snacks. Bring enough food to last for the entire trip.

  5. Step 5

    Leave early to avoid being late because of traffic. Take time to enjoy downtown Seattle when arriving early. There is plenty to do and see on the pier.

  6. Step 6

    Dress in layers and bring a jacket even in warm weather. The temperature on the Puget Sound will be much cooler than on shore.

  7. Step 7

    Bring an ice chest filled with ice. Put the fish in the cooler for the ride home.
