Step1
Scout potential hunting areas for bear tracks and droppings. Also be on the lookout for ripe berries or freshly fallen acorns.
Step2
Choose a hunting method. In the early season, before bears have berries or acorns to gorge on, they are more likely to respond to predator calls. Once food sources become abundant, bears are better hunted by spot-and-shoot or spot-and-stalk methods.
Step3
Find a site where you and your hunting partner can rest motionless with a good view of your surroundings. Begin making calls imitating wounded prey. Bears will respond to the calls of rabbits, hares and even mice.
Step4
Head to a vantage point if you are going to use one of the spot methods. Once you spot a bear, your next step will depend on how far away it is.
Step5
Aim and shoot if the bear is already within range. Otherwise stalk the bear until you are within range.
Step6
Remain in your position if you would rather wait for a bear to walk into range.
