How to Barbecue Shrimp

Shrimp is great finger food and makes an even better entrée. It is easy to barbecue shrimp and add some spice to a meal. This recipe is low in fat and calories. Choose to either barbecue shrimp on a grill or in the oven.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9-by-13 inch pan
  • Aluminum foil

    Barbecue on the Grill

  1. Step 1

    Melt the butter on the stove.

  2. Step 2

    Chop the garlic and onion.

  3. Step 3

    Mix butter, garlic, onion and remaining spices in a bowl. Blend well.

  4. Step 4

    Remove the shells from the shrimp. Wash the shrimp in cool water.

  5. Step 5

    Place the shrimp in the bowl with the spices.

  6. Step 6

    Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

  7. Step 7

    Light the grill after the 2 hour marinade.

  8. Step 8

    Skewer the shrimp on bamboo sticks.

  9. Step 9

    Lay the skewers on the grill and cook 6 to 7 minutes on each side.

  10. Barbecue in the Oven

  11. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

  12. Step 2

    Place the shrimp in 9" x 13" inch pan.

  13. Step 3

    Chop the garlic and onion and then place it in the pan with the shrimp.

  14. Step 4

    Sprinkle the spices and bay leaves over the shrimp.

  15. Step 5

    Add the olive oil and butter on top of the mixture.

  16. Step 6

    Cover the pan with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use any leftover sauce for dipping.

on 7/23/2009 I guess I could figure out how much onion and garlic to use by experimenting but I have no clue what spices this recipe calls for.
