The Civilian Service in Vietnam Medal is awarded to civilians who worked in Vietnam. You may apply for this award if you are the recipient, a family member of a recipient or an estate inheritor.

Instructions

      Provide an unaltered copy of your employment records (usually a form DD-214) documenting your employment in Vietnam. Your records must show a total of one year of service (not necessarily continuous) in Vietnam any time between Jan. 1, 1962 and April 30, 1975, while employed by any agency under the United States Department of State.

      Fill out the application form online (see Resources below). Use the name you had during your employment in Vietnam even if it has changed.

      Pay by debit card, credit card, check (personal, business, bank or cashier's) or money order and indicate the payment method on the application form. The total payment will be determined by the display type you request. There are four choices: heavy bond enclosure, endurable acrylic frame, classic gold frame or unframed.

      Mail the required items to Records Chief (REC-AMW), The American War Library, 16907 Brighton Avenue, Gardena, CA 90247-5420. You can also fax the items to (310) 532-0634 or email your application to amerwar@amervets.com to expedite the delivery of your medal.

      Call (310) 532-0634 between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday with any questions. Your medal will be mailed to you within one week of receipt of payment (six weeks if paying by check.)

      Wait for your medal to be mailed to you. It should ship within one week of receipt of payment (six weeks if paying by check.)
