How to Make a Watergate Salad

A Watergate salad is an easy to make fruit and nut salad. In fact, it's so easy that it makes a great project for children to help with. This recipe is great for snacks or dinners. It takes only 15 minutes to prepare and is ready to eat after chilling for an hour in the refrigerator. Top with some shredded coconut for an added flare.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large Bowl
  • 12 ounces whipped topping
  • 2 packages instant pistachio pudding
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 1 11-ounce can Mandarin oranges
  • 25 ounces crushed pineapple
  • 1 cup sliced cherries
  • 1 small bag miniature marshmallows
  1. Step 1

    Spoon the whipped topping into a large bowl.

  2. Step 2

    Add the pistachio pudding mix and stir until blended.

  3. Step 3

    Slice the bananas. Add the bananas to the mix while stirring to combine.

  4. Step 4

    Pour the chopped nuts into the salad. Mix it all together.

  5. Step 5

    Drain the oranges, pineapple and cherries. You can mash the oranges or leave them sliced.

  6. Step 6

    Add the oranges, pineapple and cherries to the salad and mix well.

  7. Step 7

    Place the marshmallows into the mixture.

  8. Step 8

    Stir the Watergate salad until completely blended. Try to get all of the ingredients evenly distributed throughout the salad.

    Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

  10. Step 10

    Serve the salad in a decorative glass bowl for special occasions.

  • Watergate salad keeps in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. This recipe yields 10 servings.
