Step 1
Choose a rabbit-hunting gun based on your age, size and experience. The single shot shotgun holds one shell at a time and is best for a person who has great aim because of the time it will take to load the second shot into the chamber.
-
Step 2
Consider the double barrel shotgun for situations where you will need two shots at different ranges. The double barrel shotgun is a good gun for hunting rabbits because you can have two different chokes which will allow for a tight pattern close range shot, and then a more loosely patterned, farther distanced second shot.
-
Step 3
Consider a pump action shotgun if you plan on bagging several rabbits. This gun holds five to six shots, depending on the make and model, and each pump chambers another round for a fast second, third, fourth and fifth shot.
-
Step 4
Choose a semi-automatic shotgun for speed. This shotgun holds 4 to 5 shells and since there is no manual rechambering, you can shoot as fast as your finger can pull the trigger.
