An inflatable boat is not only a lot of fun, but also handy, whether you're trolling around a lake or docked at a mooring and want to get to shore. Here's how to buy an inflatable boat.

From Quick Guide: Boating
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check out your local boat store. West Marine is a nationwide chain, but there are probably others in your area as well. All boating stores sell inflatables. Also, stores like Target, Wal-Mart and K-Mart have moved into the inflatable boat market as well.

  2. Step 2

Peruse tag sales for an inflatable boat. This seems like an effort, but with the web it has become much easier. Check out craigslist or other community sites for information on upcoming tag sales. There people will list the valuable items they have for sale. If someone is selling an inflatable boat, contact them and arrange to check it out.

  3. Step 3

Visit sites like eBay and ambitioninflatables.com. On these sites you'll be able to get great deals with deep discounts either by bidding, as on ebay, or purchasing from a direct manufacturer such as Ambition Inflatables.

  4. Step 4

Take a spin by your local marina. Not only do they have slips for you to buy, but they sell boats, too. And since most people who have a larger water craft need an inflatable boat, chances are they will carry them as well. You might also get a great deal, as they are looking to make their money on the big-ticket gigantic boats and care less about the small profit margin for an inflatable boat.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you by an air pump. Humans should not blow up inflatable boats.
  • Be sure to buy paddles or a small motor for your inflatable boat.
