Step 1
Treat yourself to some pampering. As wedding stress mounts in the weeks before the wedding, make an appointment to get a pedicure, massage or facial. It may seem selfish, but doing this gives you something small yet luxurious to look forward to.
-
Step 2
Draw a bath. Once a week, indulge in a warm soak in the tub. Light candles, play soft music or simply enjoy the silence.
-
Step 3
Do non-wedding related things. Read a book, go for a hike or plan a weekend with friends. It's easy to get wrapped up in wedding details, but calling a time out and engaging in non-nuptial activities is healthy.
-
Step 4
Keep a journal. Journaling is a healthy way to release tension, fear and excitement. Spend a few minutes every day or so writing what is on your mind. You'll feel better instantly, and it will be fun to revisit the journal months after the wedding.
-
Step 5
Delegate wedding duties. Instead of trying to do everything on your own, ask your friends, family and wedding party to help out with as much as possible. People usually want to help, but are afraid to step on the bride's toes, so asking them personally is flattering.
-
Step 6
Get plenty of rest. You will look and feel better when you're well rested.
-
Step 7
Make a schedule, but don't follow it to a T. Use it as a general guideline so you don't feel frazzled and clueless on the big day, but don't worry about being on task every minute of the day.
-
Step 8
Roll with the punches. There are going to be mishaps and blunders on the wedding day, but roll with them. Bite your tongue when you feel a nasty comment coming on. You don't want to regret looking like a bridezilla later on.
