Receiving gifts is an exciting part of the wedding experience for a bride and groom, but for the guests, choosing the right wedding gift can be challenging. The bride and groom can make the gift buying process much easier for their guests by creating a wedding registry at a store.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a store that sells the items that you need as gifts. There are many major retail stores, discount stores and specialty stores to choose from such as Macy's and Target. It is common for brides and grooms to register at more than one store.

  2. Step 2

Go to the store you chose for your wedding registry and find the gift registry computer. It is usually located near the housewares department in major department stores.

  3. Step 3

Follow the instructions on the computer for creating a new wedding registry. Type in your name, your fiance's name, your address, phone number and wedding date. Print a receipt from the computer that has your bar code on it.

  4. Step 4

Get a scanner from one of the store associates. Scan the bar code on your gift registry printout. Take the scanner around the store and scan the bar code of each item you want to add to your registry.

  5. Step 5

Scan the label on the shelf if the item is too large to scan the bar code on the actual item. To select more than one of an item, scan the bar code of that one item as many times as necessary to get the number of multiples you want.

  6. Step 6

Put a wedding registry announcement in your wedding invitations before you mail them so your guests will know where to go to buy your gift.
