Step 1
Use almond milk. Many people enjoy the delicious taste of almond milk and use it in their cereals, or mixed in a fruit shake. It keeps for over a week and must be refrigerated after opening.
-
Step 2
Consider soy milk. Soy milk has about the same shelf life as regular milk and is a good source of magnesium and thiamine. Soy milk is low cost and fortified with vitamins and minerals.
-
Step 3
Buy oat or rice milk. Both of these milk substitutes come in several different flavors and come in low fat or fat free varieties.
-
Step 4
Find a cheese that is not made from milk. All typical cheese flavors, mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan, can come from milk substitutes. The substitutes used to make the cheese include soy, seeds and rice. Many of these cheeses taste just like the real thing and they melt. However, you should make sure that they don't contain casein, a milk protein that many companies add to these cheeses.

Step 5
Purchase a non-dairy ice cream. Ice cream can be made from soy or rice instead of milk products. They come in numerous flavors and can also come in sugar or fat free varieties.

Step 6
Use lactose free milk. Lactaid makes milk that has the lactose removed from it. It is a substitute to use for people who are lactose intolerant.
