Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Decide what you want to correct. Different creams target different problems. Rate your decision on the importance of anti-aging effects, correcting dark circles and treating puffiness, for example.
Step2
Read the labels on a few of the creams that tout the results you are seeking. An anti-aging cream or anti-wrinkle cream should contain caffeine, retinol, alpha-hydroxy or vitamin C. An anti-darkening cream should have vitamin K or hydroquinone in the jar.
Step3
Decide if you want a cream to wear during the day or overnight, or if you would like to have different creams for both. You might want an anti-wrinkle under your makeup and a lightening cream at night.
Step4
Choose a cream without any fragrance with a pH level close to that of tears.
Step5
Narrow your search to a few choices and buy the cheapest one. If it hasn't worked after a few weeks, you can try another, but at least you haven't wasted all your money on the first product you tried.
Step6
Watch for information on new developments in skin-care technology. Breakthroughs continually emerge in this field. Before long, you may even be able to get Botox over the counter.
